Ban On Ragging<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  1. The students are advised to read carefully the following instructions issued by the Vice-chancellor of C.D.L.U., Sirsa based on the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme court of India regarding ragging :
    • (i)”Ragging in educational institutions is banned and anyone indulging in ragging is likely to be punished appropriately with punishment which may include expulsion from the institution, suspension from institution or classes for a limited period or fine with a scholarships or other benefits.”<\/li>
    • (ii) debarring from representation in event.<\/li>
    • (iii) withholding results.<\/li>
    • (iv) suspension or expulsion from hostel or mess, and the like. If the individuals committing or abetting ragging are not\/cannot be identified, collective punishment can be awarded to act as a determent.<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
    • Definition of Ragging provided by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India includes “ragging as any act which violates the dignity of the individual student or is perceived to violate his\/her dignity.” The ragging is neither a means of familiarization nor an introduction with fresher but a form of psychopathic behaviors and a reflection of deviant personalities. It produces the entrenched power configurations prevalent in civil society. Ragging can be either of the following forms or the acts :
        • A. Verbal:<\/b>\u00a0Where senior causes mental harassment, discomfort for the junior by facing him\/her to answer unacceptable\/personal questions, dance, sing etc. is said to rag the junior. It also includes its ambit cyber ragging.<\/li>
        • Punishment :<\/b>: 1 year imprisonment with fine.<\/li>
        • B. Serve Verbal Ragging :<\/b>\u00a0Where the mental harassment, discomfort is to such an act as forces the junior to withdraw from the college.<\/li>
        • Punishment :<\/b>7 year imprisonment with fine.<\/li>
        • C. Physical :<\/b>Any act by the senior towards the junior which inflicts bodily injury on the junior, like beating the junior, hitting him\/her with objects etc<\/li>
        • D. Sexual Ragging :<\/b>: Where the senior asks the junior to do an act which damages sexual dignity of the junior.<\/li>
        • Punishment :<\/b>: 7 year imprisonment with fine.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>

          All legal disputes relating to examination\/Admission of students will be subject to courts having jurisdiction in Ellenabad.<\/b><\/p><\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          Rules for Promotion to Next Higher Class<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          1. The academic council vide resolution no. 62 of its 18th meeting held on 3.1.2014 resolved the following regarding promotion to next class in respect of 3 years Bachelor Degree Programmes : For promotion to qualifying condition for clearing lower examinations1st Semester.<\/li>
          2. However, if the result of lower qualifying semester is not declared by the time of admission\/promotion to a given semester, students will be allowed promotion provisionally subject to fulfilling the condition on declaration of the result of lower examination. No Student be allowed promotion to the next higher class until and unless she is not the rolls of the College.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t\t

            Authorities of The Principal<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t
            \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t
            1. The powers vested in the office of the Principal are unchartered and discretionary but these are used in most judicious manner for the betterment of the students and the institution.<\/li>
            2. The principal can make amendments in the previously set norms, if necessary, for the improvement in the management of the college.<\/li>
            3. The Rights are reserved in the office of the Principal to refuse admission to any candidate without explaining the reasons.<\/li><\/ol>

              \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe Principals of the colleges are permitted to admit the students after a gap of studies, if the student is otherwise , eligible and his\/her case falls under the admission policy. Gap year(s) Certificate\/undertaking shall be submitted to the Chairperson\/Principal concerned by the candidate.\n

              \nIt may also be ensured that no regular student be allowed to appear in the examination of the University until and unless his\/her Registration return has been sent to the University.\n

              \nThe weight age (percentage\/Marks) will be added to the percentage of aggregate and\/or percentage of marks in the qualifying examination\n

              \nEvery student shall attend his classes on all working days unless he is granted leave of absence by the Chairperson of the University Department\/Principal of the College concerned. If a student remains absent from his classes for a continuous period of seven working days without any valid reason, medical or otherwise, his name shall be struck off the rolls, irrespective of the fact that he has paid his dues.\n

              \nHowever, the student may be re-admitted with the permission of the Chairperson of the Department\/Principal of the College concerned on payment of re-admission fee, as prescribed by the University from time to time in addition to arrears of fees, if any provided that the Chairperson of the Department\/Principal of the College is satisfied that if re-admitted the student will not fall short of requisite percentage of lectures etc\n
